TRAX Medical

Student Placement & Volunteer Code of Conduct Manual

Welcome to TRAX Medical. We appreciate your willingness to volunteer and learn within a motorsport medical environment. This placement is an opportunity to gain valuable experience while working alongside qualified and experienced medical personnel.

As a TRAX Medical student or volunteer, you are representing both TRAX Medical and the hosting sporting club. Professionalism, safety, and respectful behaviour are expected at all times.

Placement Expectations...


Arrival & Attendance

  • Students are expected to arrive on time for every placement.
  • If you are running late or unable to attend, you must notify the medic in charge as soon as possible.
  • Students should arrive prepared and ready to participate in the day’s activities.


Track Address

  • The track address and event details will be provided to students prior to each placement.


Uniform & Presentation

  • A TRAX Medical vest will be provided to you for the duration of your placement.
  • The vest must be worn at all required times unless instructed otherwise.

Professional Presentation

  • Students are expected to present themselves professionally at all times:
  • Hair must be tied back where appropriate.
  • APC Student shirt and Closed-in boots must be worn.
  • Clothing should be neat, tidy, and appropriate for a professional medical environment.
  • Good personal hygiene is expected.

Professional Behaviour

Conduct Around the Public

  • Students must behave professionally at all times while onsite.
  • This includes:
  • Speaking respectfully to staff, officials, drivers, families, and spectators.
  • Listening carefully to instructions from the medic in charge.
  • Maintaining a calm and professional attitude.
  • Students must not:
  • Speak negatively about patients, staff, officials, clubs, or TRAX Medical.
  • Make inappropriate comments within hearing distance of spectators, officials, or competitors.
  • Use offensive, aggressive, or unprofessional language.
  • Remember that motorsport events are public environments, and your behaviour reflects directly on both TRAX Medical and the karting club.

Placement Is a Professional Environment

  • Students are expected to treat their placement as they would paid professional employment.

Visitors

  • Partners, friends, or children are not permitted to attend placement with students unless prior approval has been given by management.
  • The focus of placement is learning, professionalism, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Alcohol & Drug Policy

  • Students must not:
  • Attend placement under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Consume alcohol or illegal substances during placement hours.
  • Any student suspected of being under the influence may be asked to leave immediately.

Student Roles & Responsibilities

Observation Role

  • Students are attending placement primarily to:
  • Observe
  • Listen
  • Learn
  • Assist only when directed by qualified staff
  • Students must follow all instructions given by the medic in charge.

Track Access

  • Students are NOT permitted track access unless:
  • They have received prior training, AND
  • Permission has been granted by the medic in charge on the day.
  • Track environments are high-risk areas and safety procedures must always be followed.

APC & Placement Paperwork

  • Students are responsible for:
  • Reading and understanding their own course or APC requirements.
  • Bringing all required paperwork to placement.
  • Pre-completing documentation where possible.
  • After a procedure or learning activity has been completed:
  • It is the student’s responsibility to present their paperwork to the supervising medic for sign-off.
  • Staff cannot sign paperwork they did not directly supervise.

Equipment & Medical Supplies

  • All medical equipment and supplies remain the property of TRAX Medical.
  • Students must:
  • Respect all equipment and supplies.
  • Use equipment only when instructed.
  • Report damaged equipment immediately.
  • Students must not:
  • Remove supplies from kits or vehicles without permission.
  • Misuse, damage, steal, or intentionally waste medical supplies.
  • Any theft or intentional damage may result in immediate removal from placement.

Safety & Confidentiality

  • Students may witness medical incidents and sensitive information during placement.
  • Students must:
  • Respect patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Never post patient information, photos, videos, or incident details on social media.
  • Follow all safety directions provided by TRAX Medical staff.
